I eat books and get eaten by them. It's an uncomplicated relationship.

I'm co-blogger at YA Fanatic as well.

Divergent - Veronica Roth fast-paced .
story good enough to keep me grounded to the position in which i was reading ( highly flawed , this was though ) .
bad-ass girl .
make-me-swoon kind of a guy .
some pivotal and impacting lines which made me smile and grin like a pig .

is what makes up Divergent by Veronica Roth :D .

this was a highly entertaining , yet a sort of lame-game kind of a book .
Don't get me wrong ! i have given it 4 stars , and i'm going to say that i absolutely loved the book !
it's just that i don't see the point of it being dystopian ?

my questions ->
why do we need factions based on a human's 'quality' or 'the inner thing' (or whatever you can name it) ?
i mean seriously . how are you going to control people like that ?
it's set in the future ? yes .
has it got an oppressive government ? according to the book - sort of , according to me - hell no .
has it got a strong setting like a bit scary , strangled and freedom-less and whatever that makes the world 'robotic' kind of a thing to it like Hunger Games or Delirium ? no .
so does all that make it non-dystopian ? according to me , yes .

okay so i called it a 'lame-game' kind of a book right ?
do all my answers suffice to all the questions given above ?

whatever it is , the storyline ( if you put a thought to it ) is pretty odd .
Beatrice Prior who later changes her name to 'Tris' lives in a world where the society id divided into five factions - Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent).
the time a person turns sixteen they are made to choose among the five factions to which they are supposed to be tied to for the rest of their lives.. .
Tris's family is from the Abnegation faction (selfless) and all expect her to choose Abnegation and be one of them . it's shocking when Tris chooses Dauntless (bravery) over Abnegation .
to be finally accepted as a Dauntless girl she has to go through a highly competitive initiation process and that's where she learns about some secrets and revelations and she must choose and decide and all in all , fight .

my questions yet again ...
how can you be just 'one' of the things above when these are the things which entirely make up a human being and 'are' what you call , the soul and personality of a person ?
to be a peacemaker , you have to intelligent . to be selfless , sometimes you must accept honesty .
so how the freaking hell will it work ? and what's the point ?
we are only human . but this sound so artificially-mechanised or cyber-plugged !

that's why i find it lame .

but yet i give it 4 stars !

BECAUSE DAMN THIS IS ONE ENGROSSING AND INTERESTINGLY FANTASTIC KIND OF A BOOK !
now go on , call me stupid ..

the thing is , even though i knew that there were half the things in the content with which i absolutely disagreed with yet it's so powerful and awesome that i couldn't put it away !

the way Tris's mind was working was quite understandable . she was confused about her decision regarding her choosing the faction . she knew if she chose one , the other would automatically separate her from either the life she wants or could make .
though around the mid-section she becomes a heartless and cold bitch , which makes her fabulously bad-ass , which again is quite understandable , considering her still being confused as she sometimes regrets and marvels her decision . usually , the bad-ass and strong girls tend to annoy me towards the end , but this chick didn't xD !

the love interest , whose name is 'Four' is just ....wow *_*
i really liked his character .
and damn , i loved Tris's and Four's romance !
it was so adorable :)

there were these parts like ...

“I have something to tell you,” he says.
I run my fingers along the tendons in his hand and look
back at him.
“I might be in love with you.” He smiles a little. “I’m waiting
until I’m sure to tell you, though.”
“That’s sensible of you,” I say, smiling too. “We should find
some paper so you can make a list or a chart or something.”
I feel his laughter against my side, his nose sliding along
my jaw, his lips pressing behind my ear.
“Maybe I’m already sure,” he says, “and I just don’t want to
frighten you.”
I laugh a little. “Then you should know better.”
“Fine,” he says. “Then I love you.”

( i just can't get this thing out of my freaking brain , isn't it just so awesome ! )

then , there were these pivotal areas which actually shaped up the book pretty well .
like when we come to know what 'Divergent' means and how Tris finally understands it too and also how it affects her decisions .
infact like i mentioned before , there were these great quotes which made me grin like crazy !

“I feel like someone breathed new air into my lungs. I am not Abnegation. I am not Dauntless.
I am Divergent.”

(it just sound so strong and poised !)

“A chasm reminds us that there is a fine line between bravery and idiocy.”

(the time i read it , i stifled a kind of a laugh xD )

and yes i know the above quote is not 'impacting' but hello ! it's sarcastic and hilarious !

He turns toward me. I want to touch him, but I’m afraid of
his bareness; afraid that he will make me bare too.
“Is this scaring you, Tris?”
“No,” I croak. I clear my throat. “Not really. I’m only…afraid
of what I want.”
“What do you want?” Then his face tightens. “Me?”
Slowly I nod.

(overnight i have turned absolutely perverse -.- )

now the bad guys ...
the sad part is , to me the bad guys didn't feel evil . maybe it's me but i thought that there was nothing sooo antagonistic about the villain or villains .

as i finally conclude ,
i'm not going to be hesitant and will definitely cry my eyes out yet again as this was one of the books which i totally loved and have been pathetically late to come across .
the story might have been a bit crappy but it didn't stop me from reading it and loving it , and that my friends is Win-Win :D
